The 2012 RegioStars Awards competition announced

The 2012 RegioStars competition - the fifth annual awards - was announced on 16 March 2011, with 15 July as the deadline for submission of applications. The objective of the RegioStars Awards is to identify good practices in regional development and to highlight original and innovative projects which could be attractive and inspiring to other regions
The beneficiary organizations implementing projects within Hungary-Serbia IPA cross-border Co-operation Programme are encouraged to apply.
The five categories for 2012 are:
SMART GROWTH: service innovation
SUSTAINABLE GROWTH: ecosystem services and green infrastructure
INCLUSIVE GROWTH: demographic change and supporting active ageing. (2012 is the "European Year of Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity")
CITYSTAR CATEGORY: Integrated strategies for the development of deprived urban areas.
INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION CATEGORY: Informing the public on the internet about projects benefiting from EU Regional policy.
