Project objectives:	1/ Identify system configuration (objects, pumping capacities, lockers, bridges, diversions etc.) 2/ Identify and describe water requirements by categories of users and by quantitative and qualitative volumes and parameters. 3/ Determine water availability (surface, subsurface and meteorological) 4/ Develop coherent systems approach to over items 1-3 given above 5/ Identify models and computer-based supporting tools to enable meeting objective 4. 6/ Implement approach and models to identify best strategies how to improve development and operation of the Nadela system.
Project results:	1/ Identified relevant data sets required for contemporary planning and management of the system (and similar regional hydro systems in the region). 2/ Recognition of structural and nonstructural measures necessary to implement in order to meet above specified objectives. 3/ Simulation of the system performance in normal and hazard conditions and under different priority schemes amongst water users 4/ Defining procedures for running the system on daily and montly basis. Train operating staff of the responsible control unit.
Short description of the Project:	Along the main Nadela canal (83.5 km) there are significant structural and non-structural problems related to dramatically reduced potential of the anal to deliver required waters to existing and potential water users. Destroyed and/or damaged irrigation equipment along the canal, as well as lack of funds and institutional support from the government, both require innovative approach in analysis and making decisions how to proceed and enable system to meet rising water demands indicated from multiple and diverse users (existing and future). Establishment of such an approach can be generalized to the level to be applicable to other similar hydro systems in Vojvodina and Hungary.
